Every tape holds working capital in an account of its own, trades it on a permissionless crank, and prints each execution into its own artwork. The record is the asset. Nothing is stored off-chain, and nothing is drawn that did not happen.

What a tape is

A tape is an NFT with a bank account. Minting one deploys a token-bound account and seeds it with working capital, and from then on the tape trades that capital according to parameters its owner sets.

Anyone can crank a tape when its conditions are met — execution is permissionless and pays the caller a bounty, so a tape trades whether or not its owner is watching. Every execution is priced through an oracle and bounded, then printed as a row on the tape itself.

A tape is scored against buying and holding NVDA from its own mint block. Beating that is the only thing that counts, which is why a losing trade that still beat the benchmark is a good trade here.

Most tapes will lose to the benchmark. That is what happens to most active strategies in every market that has existed. The board shows it plainly.
